About 3D Reconstruction from Video
This Streamlit demo extracts frames from an uploaded video and builds a mesh for preview and STL download. Its published implementation uses grayscale pixel intensity as a substitute for depth, then applies Poisson surface reconstruction.
Although the interface refers to Structure from Motion, the inspected code does not estimate camera poses or triangulate matching features. Treat it as an experimental image-processing demonstration, rather than a method for recovering a dimensionally accurate object or scene.
How to use 3D Reconstruction from Video
- Upload a short MP4 or AVI video inside the demo.
- Wait for frame extraction and the experimental surface reconstruction.
- Inspect the preview and download the STL if processing completes.
What to know before you start
- Bright pixels are treated as greater depth in the published implementation; lighting can therefore change the inferred surface.
- The STL is not a validated scan and should not be used as a measurement of the filmed object.
The provider controls availability, sign-in, processing, and downloads. Save any result before reloading or closing the demo.
Does this tool perform calibrated photogrammetry?
No. The inspected source uses a brightness-based depth approximation rather than a calibrated multi-view reconstruction pipeline.
